TOGETHER, WE can SAVE Bergen County!

About Jay Costa

Raised in Norwood and a proud graduate of Bergen Catholic High School and The College of New Jersey, where he earned a degree in political science, Jay has a deep-rooted understanding of Bergen County’s unique needs and opportunities.

As a successful real estate professional in sales and development, Jay and his wife, Jill, are committed to raising their three daughters in the county they love and ensuring it remains a vibrant, affordable place for all families to thrive.

Jay knows the value Bergen County offers—strong neighborhoods, excellent schools, and thriving businesses. But the rising cost of living is pushing families away.  As a father, Jay is determined to make Bergen County more affordable, so young families can stay and build their futures here. His focus is on lowering costs ensuring families can flourish without financial strain.

On The Issues

Affordability

Jay Costa aims to make Bergen County more affordable by instituting a Cost Containment Committee of private sector experts to audit and trim the county's $720 million budget, cutting unnecessary spending like over-budget projects and vague "other expenses," while easing regulations on small businesses to help them thrive. He will also fight over-development that drives up costs and push for lower property taxes through fiscal responsibility.

This will help Bergen County become a better place to raise a family by reducing the financial burden on residents, allowing more money for essentials like housing and education, and supporting local economies where families can work and grow.

Accountability

Jay Costa will introduce an online Bergen County Budget Dashboard for full transparency on expenditures, ending waste such as $142,000 on camera gear, $14,500 for 24 hours worth of labor, and $238 on veggie chips from the Open Space Trust Fund. This will help to eliminate fraud, abuse, and ballooning budgets from $500 million to $720 million under Democratic leadership.

This will make Bergen County a better place to raise a family by ensuring tax dollars are spent wisely on essential services, rebuilding trust in government, and preventing waste of tax dollars that could harm community resources for schools, parks, and family support programs.

Safety & Security

Jay Costa prioritizes safety by supporting law enforcement instead of handcuffing them and ensuring law and order in our streets with full support to local Police from Bergen County leadership. He supports having full cooperation with federal law enforcement to keep illegal criminals in jail and off of Bergen County streets.

This will help Bergen County be a better place to raise a family by creating secure neighborhoods where children can play safely, backing first responders who protect communities, and fostering an environment free from crime and disorder for our families.
